Lethal Weapon, 1987 - ★★★★★

Rewatching Lethal Weapon for the first time made me consider where the line is between “seriousness” and silliness with movies. There are a lot of silly movies that we criticize for being silly, but then there are a lot of silly movies that we take seriously. The thing about Lethal Weapon is that it’s both a serious movie and a silly one, but the serious stuff is really serious and the silly stuff is pretty silly. I guess some movies are serious but happen to have some silly stuff, so they get a pass, while others lean too much into their silliness, which is a problem for some. 

I don’t really like this dichotomy, since I can do both without much of a problem. Silly plot decisions can bother me, but even then, it takes a lot. But I feel like there are a lot of movies that we owe...
