This film was Jennifer Yuh Nelson’s directorial debut. For the first film, Nelson worked in the art department, directed the dream scenes, she was head of story and a supervisor for all the action scenes. She definitely earned the role of director for this film.

Until the release of Frozen (2013), this film, Kung Fu Panda 2, was the biggest box office success for a film directed by a woman. This film does everything a sequel should do, building and expanding, without retreading the first film.

Po, now the Dragon Warrior, still isn’t the best at everything. He still needs mentoring and help from his team, he still has things to learn (especially stealth). Po still holds what helped him be successful in the first film, his enthusiasm for justice and Kung Fu, his optimistic...
