The Quiet Man, 1952 - ★★★★★

After viewing a few westerns helmed by the eccentric John Ford and the remarkable John Wayne, here trots in an innocent romantic comedy helmed by the endearing John Ford and the sincere John Wayne. A buddy of mine told me that this just might be Ford’s top tier film, but as someone who holds The Searchers in such high regard, it remains a bit difficult to change my thoughts on that. However, in light of a swift and unexpected departure by the all-American filmmaker and actor, The Quiet Man undoubtedly rises as a high ranking celluloid roll of beautiful Irish shamrock greenery in the filmography of Ford & Wayne. Will this feature hit the top of the duo’s work together, or is it already there and I just don’t know it yet?
