I Was at Home, But..., 2019 - ★★★

Once again enjoyed Schanelac’s formal sensibility, but found her cryptic storytelling even harder to parse than it was in The Dreamed Path. There, it was mainly the relationship between the two halves that befuddled me; here, the narrative is a puzzle made up of smaller pieces, and I didn’t have much luck in unscrambling them in a meaningful way. Or it’s straightforward and I’m just a numbskull.
