Married to the Mob, 1988 - ★★★½

A delightful romp through the usual genre tropes but told from a unique and enthusiastic perspective. The opening train sequence is a great stand alone piece in cinema history and the peppy feature song Mambo Italiano by Rosemary Clooney conveys the offbeat but delightful tonal harmonies to come in the film. As close to a comfort food flick as I've ever seen from Demme. Some of the action scenes and strong female characters reminded me of the work of Pedro Almodóvar especially the climax. Quite similar to a film that came out the same year Women on the Verge of Nervous Breakdown.
