Neo-Marxism

Had never seen this film before. It's on Netflix right now and Brad Pitt rarely is cast in a sh**ty film so I gave it a shot. There is an obvious theme comparing the military industrial complex / overall corrupt government with the mafia stories they follow with the main characters. And at the end, Brad gives a pretty decent speech about unity that makes it worthwhile. I thought they would go far left with the agenda but it was pretty centrist. Third positionist I guess. But still lots of anti-American sentiment so that's why I gave it 2 "neo-marxism" ratings.

It was insanely realistic though and they didn't pull punches with stereotypes of Italians and Blacks and junkies so that was good. The "insanely realistic" part was a scene where a guy gets his head blown off. The skin flaps shake and there wasn't an abundance of blood like Quintin Tarantino is known to do. It looked just like a LiveLeak video. So it puts you on the edge of your seat even more than normal. Super tense throughout. Worth a watch but not a big deal if you miss it. Only watch it if you already like Brad Pitt, action, violence, mafia, etc. Oh and it was basically all white men throughout so that was nice to not have to think about the agenda. You can get lost in the story, ya know?

Good stuff.
