This is a noir, a puzzlebox of a film, and an examination of the carnage and fracturing the human soul can undergo. It can be read in many ways (be they freudian, buddhistic or catholic). Unlike director David Lynch's other famous film Mulholland Drive the pieces of this mystery do not quite fit together. Some people might say that Mulholland Drive is therefore the superior lynchian experience. I disagree. It is in the endless way's of rearranging the fractured reality, wherein the rewatchabillity and nourishment of this film lies, and through this narrative uncertainty the movie trumps it's companion piece Mulholland Drive. Lost Highway always eludes me, and in so doing intrudes me...

Only watch if you like the rug getting pulled under your feet.
