This movie, produced by wayne himself, is little more than a baby boomer wet dream. wayne plays a cattle mogul, who defacto rules a town with a velvet glove. he spends most of his time telling other people what do to and is always right, anyone who disagrees is played the fool. the central thread of the movie is that waynes wife hasnt talked to him in several years. its eventually revealed that she is mad that wayne cheated on her. this is resolved by wayne saying "who cares?" while chasing her around town, stripping her and then spanking her, while the whole town watches. this is played for comedy. wayne also makes sure he lets his only child know that she is getting a pittance of what wayne has, and the rest is going to the goverment. theres also a brief moment in the film where wayne is the savioir of the indians where he speaks on their behalf to the government to try and save them from some indignity. nothing comes of this, but hes still a hero or something. it is a perfect summation of a baby boomer philosophy: i am the smartest in the world, everything would be better if everyone just did what i said without question. i can and should do whatever i want, whenever i want, and to hell with my children and family, whether they get in the way of that or not. I give it high anti god themes because wayne cheating on his wife is not even moderately a problem for anyone in the movie other than the wife. everyone else takes wayne's side in the thing. also, exposing your wife in public like that is most certainly unchristian behavior.
