Hope you're happy, RWT.
I took a girl on a first date to see this movie and it was painfully long and too macho/esoteric for her. She was fidgeting in her seat the entire time in the corner of my eye, while I fawned over 2 hours of nonstop guttural screams. But I regret nothing. Glad I actually went and paid cash for tickets to support good content. And can't recall the last time I wanted to do...
Never get sick of this film. One of those films with a very high replay value. Lots of foreshadowing and interconnectedness throughout the script. For example, I just noticed the subtext in the dinner scene when they are both simultaneously saying: "Nothing!" "Everything!" If you're recently redpilled the dumb blondes portrayed as the cliché villains might rub you the wrong way. It's the same trope...
This film has so much meme mythos surrounding it that it couldn't live up to the hype, but it is still an absolute classic.Â
It'd been so long since my first viewing that I'd forgotten how dated it was. Not only does it take place in the 80's but the production still had some 90's era giveaways lingering throughout. Anyways, within minutes you'll understand why every scene is so iconic....
A very hard watch, similar to Passion of the Christ. Probably won't want to watch it more than once every few years but the first time through is well worth it. Needless to say, but it's not family friendly by any means. But if you're fascinated by the dark underbelly of society, and want to be entertained by it without the cliché Tony Montana tragic story arch, or a glorification of degenerates,...
So bad it's good. The aesthetics and premise make it hard not to love, ngl. All the 90's things you'd expect:
>manic pixie dream girl
>alt rock fashion
>grunge music & Bjork on soundtrack
>custom hip hop song made by a token raper lead
I don't remember this film being so feminist but then again I was a wee lad when I first saw it on TV. Things have come so far that its...
First watched this back in 2018 or so when I saw @HarmlessYardDog mention it in a tweet. Pretty badass stuff. I don't think the creators meant there to be any deep analogies in the origin story of the protagonist. And when you look up behind the scenes interviews of anime or manga staff they often just say they like the Christian aesthetic like with "Trigun" or "Evangelion." However, for a Westerner...
Definitely watch this film.
Pretty good actually and not horribly partisan. It’s a satire on how social media/tech is destroying our society and the imbalance in power between academics and politicians. It mainly pokes at trump ppl but also biden and politicians in general. If only SNL could tone down their TDS and hatred for the working class enough to be funny again like this film, we'd be in...
It's a watered down rip off of "They Live" and the NPC meme. They tried to subvert both things and filter them through neoliberal lenses to make the mindless simps the heroes. There were tons of anti-male / feminist lines in there and attacks on """toxic""" males. Watch Keith Woods' video on how normies stole Wojak. His analysis applies to the NPC/They Live memes here as well.
"Wojak And Hyperreality"...
I remember briefly seeing a trailer for this film in passing and thought it was a horror film. Within the first 10 minutes it seems pretty dumb and goofy until you realize that it's a dark comedy. They lower your expectations from the get go and every scene afterwards gets compoundingly more clever. For example, it starts with the easy one liner phrases that the lowest common denominator...
Most older movies have really slow pacing and bad timing. And rarely are timeless. Although this film isn't as fluid as other classics like "Casablanca" it still stands up to this day. Just give it some time to get into the plot (around 25 minutes or so).Â
Without spoiling too much, it's basically a super redpilled movie on the failings of democracy. Not quite a "Might Makes...
