Unlike the previous White comedy I reviewed (Out on a Limb), this one is slightly more enjoyable. With a heavy dose of sketches and jokes, a large cast of decent comedic actors, a subpar plot that gets better towards the end, most people will find a few bits here and there to enjoy. That doesn't mean there is that much to like, the plot of the film is basically, a group of underdogs, fight a family...
I was skeptical when I decided to watch this film. A film made in the 2020's, based on a popular authoress and it has no wokeness in it? Impossible! I was expecting to suddenly see a negro among one of the servants, or a quick lesbian look between the two female friends, at least someone is going to explore their sexuality. But alas nope. (sarcasm) What we get is a wonderful romance and comedy of...
Another attempt at using zeitgeist to find an all-white film, with great success, because with the exception of a few black school-children, the entire cast is White. But is this film any good? In my opinion, no, not really, the overall film is decently solid, quality wise the story is decent, the actors are decent, but what this film lacks is comedic genius and good material and that's all that can...
Using the new searching algorithms on Zeitgeist, I tried looking for a 90's film with the highest amount of White people in the cast and in the production, then I selected for highest rating and found this film. This Irish film is for all intents and purposes, lovely, slightly melancholic and gloomy, wonderfully authentic, innocent and full of fairy lore, quaint customs and sad Irish folk tunes. But...
A satirical sketch comedian I found on Odysee and who appears occasionally in the top results, I think his sketches are very much a mixed bag. Occasionally I watch one of his sketches and think yeah, that was spot on and funny, but a lot of his stuff is really meh. One of his sketches was notably funny in my opinion, When introverts go to Hell, which I send to about 5 of my friends, all of them introverts...
So the last on a series of review of 60's horror films I watched, this one I had to request because it wasn't on zeitgeist yet and for good reasons, because it's just really bad, from the sets and goofy alien monsters, to the actors bad performance, with credit to the main "hero" of the film, who after losing his girl to his best friend, just decides to be a complete ass the entire film. Just skip...
A minor favourite of mine, I watched most of the early seasons many, many years ago on TV, yes, that long ago, not sure how old I was, before I was 18? Now I am only going to review the early seasons, because I am not that far into the show and apparently this series gets worse after season six. NYPD Blue was at the time it was produced still innovative, but even today it still holds it's own in the...
Unlike the previous anthology I reviewed "Black Sabbath (1963)" this one has no straight-up horror in it, every one of the three films has at it's core the question of identity and values, this gives it a slightly higher score, when the stories themselves are not completely solid. The first film is the story about a cruel and perverted countess, who through falling in love and destroying the one she...
Alright, another film for my december, 60's horrorthon, this one certainly isn't a a gem, it's just plain fun, never watched this one either, but apparently this film is famous for having no female characters, except the mommy monster at the end and.... It's basically a metaphor for Irish revenge fantasies against the English, a team of English divers and treasure seekers, find a gigantic prehistoric...
An anthology of three short Italian films one a horror-thriller, the other two are straight out horror, the film that gave Black Sabbath the band it's name. It offers a broad pallet of "scares" and was a joy to watch. The first film, about a girl being stalked by a criminal, was highly predictable. yes, not giving away the plot, but yeah, when she calls her lesbian ex, I already knew the next two...
Decided about three weeks ago to watch a lot of old horror films from the 60's, it's December, it's cold and dark and I was in the mood for it. After a few vampire, monster and ghost flicks I finally stumbled on this one. Had never seen it before, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's not really a horror film, I think a film should only be labeled as horror when the focus is on mood, body horror, violence...
This mini-series is often credited as one of the best ever made and that's for a good reason. A grand pastiche build around a writing of detective novels who ends up in the hospital suffering from a skin-disease and hallucinations, what follows is a story that moves around from a hospital comedy, to a satirical crime story, to snippets of the writers painful childhood, back to lipsynced musical numbers...
I had never seen this film before, though I knew the basic plot and outline, so the twist at the ending wasn't very surprising. I am sure many people will pick up on Chuck fumbling with taking of his gun in an earlier scene and will start looking for discrepancies. My overall opinion of this film was that it's more an exploration of insanity and certainly not a genuine detective film. This is actually...
I found the show incredibly enjoyable and funny and interesting. Each episode of the series has a lot of intrigue and even in the first episode it is over the top and funny. It doesn't push a lot of annoying politics down your throat trying to make you feel one way or another about things. It does include a homosexual marriage which sucks and it also includes a little but of girl boss and man emasculation....
I wasn't expecting something so high quality even though it is from Angel Studios. The movie's plot and action and drama is not only good but so is the production quality. Although one disclaimer is that even though they don't do anything sexually graphic in the movie most people can understand what stomach turning deeds are being done. The fact I wanted to get out of the movie theater and I felt uncomfortable...
One of the music genre's I have always had a soft spot for is Italodisco, it's in my opinion one of the most solid genre's of pop music, so when I watched this film I had my hopes up, but it's very much a stinker.
Primarily because of the main actor, a negro, now when I first started watching this film I though, well that black guy is clearly really gay and he gets his ass whooped, but then he dates...
Now I don't have a thing for Bollywood and normally wouldn't bother watching Indian film or tv-shows, the culture overall is just to strange and alien, but when I found this series on the Internet Archive I was almost immediately hooked. This production of Ramayana is really like nothing that can be found in the West, we have feudal drama's, heroic epics and some Christian and Arthouse films go an...
I clicked on the title of this film because it had an a alluring title and a naked woman on the cover, now I should try and limit my exposure to erotic films, because that never does me any good, but I was pleasantly surprised by this film. Strangely enough the first 2/3th of this film is actually a decent slice of life for how Alpine shepherds in the 18th or 19th century would have lived, they migrate...
McCabe & Mrs. Millers apparently gets titled an anti-western, because it seeks out to subvert western cliches, but if you approach the entire film as a historical film about a gambler and louche businessman teaming up with a whore-madam, non of that really matters. The film itself has both it's beautiful moments, the wilderness, but plenty of vice and explores the American frontier life, the dirtiness...
Sluipschutters (Snipers) is a sketch comedy-show produced at the same time and very similar to the show I previously reviewed called "komt een man bij de dokter", they even share actors. But in my humble opinion the show is inferior to the one I previously reviewed. Why? for several small reason and one big reason. The jokes don't work half of the time, because they are not jokes. A good joke need...
